School budget passes
Voters in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District passed a $218,942,029 budget proposal on Tuesday with an unofficial count of 1,629 to 1,013.
The spending plan represents a 3.32 increase over the current year’s budget and translates to an estimated tax levy increase of 3.78 percent.
A second proposition – a $3,854,095 Newburgh Free Library budget – also passed by a vote of 1,589 to 996.
Tuesday’s school budget vote also doubled as a school board election which resulted in victories for Dawn Fucheck, Thomas Woodhull and Mark Levinstein. Each will serve three-year terms beginning in July.
