Pine Bush swimmers win their 10th
Pine Bush’s boys’ swimming team boosted their record to 10-1 Thursday, Jan. 19 with 99-77 home victory against FDR.
The Bushmen went 1-2-3 in the 200-medley relay, diving, the 500-freestyle and the 200-freestyle relay.
Jeramy Rosado was a double-winner. First, he won the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:30.58, beating Gerardo Balsa, his teammate, by more than a second. In the 100-butterfly, Rosado beat FDR’s Connor O’Keefe by more than five seconds with a time 1:08.82.
Bryan Walsh was also a double-winner for Pine Bush. He won the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:11.41, more than four seconds faster than Joe Gwillym, his teammate who was second. Walsh also won the 500-freestyle by nearly 20 seconds.
Matt Salle won the diving competition for Pine Bush, garnering 293.15 points.
Milo Licata was second with 231.34 points. Licata, a junior, is the fourth-ranked Section 9 diver this season. He earned that place Dec. 15 when he picked up 252.90 points. Salle, a senior, graduates in June, and Licata is line for the top spot next year.
“I hoping for number one,” he said.
But he’s also trying to make some improvements with his fundamentals, like his work on the board, to achieve more consistency.
“I feel I could do better than what I’m doing,” he said. “It’s small things I learned in the beginning that I’m having trouble with.”
Zach Manhein was second in both the 50 and 100-freestyle events to FDR’s Michael Craven. Craven beat Manheim by less half a second in the 50-freestyle with a time of 25.41. In the 100-freestyle Craven beat Manheim by a second a half with a time of 58.24.
