Newburgh athletes compete in state meet

In Syracuse this weekend, Newburgh’s Gianna Frontera finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time 9:59.20 during the state track meet.

Newburgh's Aliyah Matta competed in the 100-meter hurdles.

Aaliyah Pittman, her teammate, was 11th in the shot-put, covering 35-feet, and three-quarter inches, and Kalliegh Forrester was 12th in 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 7:10.12.

Nicole McRae was 16th in the triple jump, covering 32-feet, 10 inches, and the girls 400-meter relay team was 14th with a time of 52.47

The boys’ 400-relay team was eighth with a time of 43.53. Shaquille Wimberly was 15th in the 400 hurdles with a time 57.71. The boys 1,600-meter relay team disqualified when a runner stepped inside the line.
