A Pine Bush teenager died Saturday night from injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident.

Police said 16-year-old Alexander Blazeski was riding a 2005 Arctic Cat F7 alone in a field off Sinsabaugh Road in the Town of Shawangunk at around 11 p.m. when he lost control of the snowmobile and slammed into a tree.

According to reports, friends who stopped hearing the sound of the snowmobile went to search for Blazeski and found him near the tree. They started to transport him by car but stopped to call 911 when his condition deteriorated. An ambulance rushed him to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, where he succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement, Blazeski’s family said their loved one was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the woods.

Blazeski was a sophomore at Pine Bush High School where he was a member of the honor society and the baseball team. He was also a graduate of the school’s Leadership and Law Academy.

“Alex was an unbelievable young man and we are devastated by his passing,” said Pine Bush High School Principal Aaron Hopmayer, adding that grief counselors have been on-hand at the school to help students cope with the loss.
