A bulldog starting pitcher can change the equation for a baseball team, as Highland senior Vinny Valentino proved on Saturday afternoon at Cantine Field in Saugerties as the hurler threw a one-hitter as the underdog Huskies baseball team battered Spackenkill 10-0 to capture the Section 9, Class B Championship. Newburgh’s softball team was getting ready for the postseason last week, something they did not do in 2014. The Lady Goldbacks finished the 2014 season with a 6-12 record, missing the playoffs, but they finished the campaign with a 6-2 run.
